About the Butterfly

Butterflies remind us that life is both beautiful and delicate.  They also remind us that we each hold the power to transform our lives, despite the obstacles we may face.  Marcie Mazzola, who died tragically at the age of 21, was a beautiful and spirited young woman who exuded positive energy and boundless hope.  After her untimely death, Marcie’s family and friends started noticing butterflies everywhere – in all seasons and locations.  These butterfly sightings continue today, and every one is a wonderful reminder of Marcie’s determined spirit and her vision to help the most helpless of people – abused children – transform into creatures that can soar.  As a celebration of Marcie’s life, her family established the butterfly as the identifying logo of the Marcie Mazzola Foundation.
